Travel soccer is for the more serious and committed soccer player. Because travel games are competitive, playing time for all players is not always equal and parents should expect that the better players will play more. Travel players are typically selected from the inhouse program and it is recommended that most travel players should also play in the inhouse program.
To be eligible to play travel, the child must be 9 years old by July 31.
For the 2005/2006 season (both fall and spring seasons), eligible players have birthdates between August 1, 1995 and July 31, 1996.
Travel games are played against teams from other communities on Sunday afternoons. Travel parents do have to miss several Steeler games in the fall, but remember it is for your kids.
Home games are played at Burkett Field and away games are typically within 30 to 45 minutes of the area. Our farthest travel trips have been to Morgantown, Wheeling or Uniontown and these do not happen every season.
We organize travel teams based on the number of eligible and qualified players in each age group.
Travel players are expected to have team uniforms. These uniforms cost approximately $60 and can be worn for multiple seasons.
